Rep. Doyle has indeed helped the Mon Valley

I’m writing in response to Gerard Pasquerell’s April 5 letter, “Doyle Indifference.”

I must take exception to his statement that U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle had done nothing to help the cities of Clairton, Duquesne and Mc-Keesport. As mayor of the city of Duquesne, I can attest to the ongoing responsiveness of Rep. Doyle to the needs of the Mon Valley. Specifically in Duquesne, Mr. Doyle obtained $12 million in federal funding to construct the Duquesne flyover ramp, allowing unimpeded access to RIDC’s Riverplace City Center and promoting much-needed economic development in our community. In addition, Mr. Doyle helped to secure an Assistance to Firefighters Grant to equip the city’s firefighters with protective gear.

I wholeheartedly believe Rep. Doyle has a strong and proven commitment to the revitalization of the Mon Valley and applaud his efforts on behalf of the residents of the city of Duquesne.
